My Trip to Tokyo, Japan Part 2 of 2

This is part two of my two-part series on my ten-day trip to Tokyo. If you missed part one click here.

Five days have gone by since I arrived in Japan. I really enjoyed walking around and taking the train everywhere. I also learned a few things that I want to share with you.

Coffee is expensive. There are tons of coffee shops all over including the familiar names like Starbucks. I recommend trying some of the local brands.

Only liquid sugar is available. If this is a problem for you, I would recommend bringing some sugar packs with you.

Restaurant Tips

Clean hands before every meal. There are towels or wet wipes at the table for you to clean your hands.

Money is placed in a money holder and you should never give someone cash in their hands.

Yokohama

I really enjoyed my day in Yokohama. The Customs Museum was very interesting as it showcased actual items that people tried to smuggle into Japan. I also visited the Cup Noodle Museum which was a who lot of fun. You can design your own noodle cup. I discovered the history behind when cup noodles were created and how the product has spread across the world.

Akihabara

Akihabara is a great place to visit. There are lots of shops that carry everything related to Japanese Animation and Manga. There are cafés that are Anime themed as well. If you are an Anime or Manga fan this is a must visit on your list. If you are into Japanese model kits and figurines there is no other place in the world besides the internet that will give you the same amount of options.

Shinjuku

I somehow managed to get lost again. The great part about getting lost in Shinjuku was that I found the most amazing little shops and a huge Japanese open market that I was able to buy souvenirs from. I purchased a beautiful fan and child sized kimonos for my kid sisters. These off the beaten path stores are always the best in my opinion. I did manage to find my way back to the train station and return to my hotel after a long day of walking.

I loved my time in Japan. If someone asked me to go tomorrow, I would start packing right now. I am definitely planning another trip there soon as there is so much of the country that I have not seen. The one thing I regret about my trip to Japan is that I was too tired to go to Tokyo Disneyworld. I should have went earlier in my trip. With all the walking tours and hiking up tall hills to see shrines, I was just exhausted and could not bring myself to go to. Have you not visited a place while on vacation and regretted it after you got home? Share in the comments section what location and why?
